Carla Bouzada Jabois has a BA in English Philology from the University of Vigo with a specialisation in English Linguistics. During her BA, she obtained a scholarship from the Ministry of Education and Science to collaborate in a research project at the Department of English, French and German Studies. She has an MA in Advanced English Studies and an MA in Secondary School and Language Education. She was awarded with a Master’s Research scholarship from the University of Vigo and a predoctoral grant by the Autonomous Government of Galicia. In December 2020, she completed her PhD dissertation entitled Nonfinite supplements in the recent history of English under the supervision of Prof. Javier Pérez Guerra (University of Vigo) and Prof. Hubert Cuyckens (KU Leuven) after a co-operation agreement for a joint doctorate. While working on her PhD dissertation, Carla developed several research stays at KU Leuven and also at Universität Wien.
In September 2014, while still working on her PhD dissertation, Carla was awarded with a grant to conduct research on scientific and technical terminology joining the Servizo de Terminoloxía Galega (TERMIGAL) hosted at the Centro Ramón Piñeiro para a Investigación en Humanidades in Santiago de Compostela (September 2014-April 2015). She worked in this project until April 2015, when she joined Nuria Yáñez-Bouza and her team to work as part-time research assistant on the APU language project, ‘The art of writing English’: A corpus of schoolchildren’s writings (April-October 2015).
