María Vila Tarela has a degree in Language Sciences and Literary Studies (2023) and a master's degree in Applied Linguistics (2024) from the University of Vigo (Spain).

In the third year of her career, she obtained a grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education (Beca de Colaboración) to work as a research assistant in the Department of Spanish Language at the University of Vigo. During this period, she worked on a study on the prosody of Spanish in the city of Vigo. She continued with this study in her master's thesis.

In 2024 he started his pre-doctoral studies and joined the Language Variation and Taxtual Categorisation group at the University of Vigo (Spain).
