At present, I am a PhD student at IDAES by Universidade de Vigo, working on my doctoral dissertation under the supervision of Javier Pérez Guerra and Yolanda Fernández Pena. In september 2021, I joined the research group Language Variation and Textual Categorisation (LVTC) on the project of Fragments: constructionalising non-canonical expressions in written English.,
I completed a BA in Foreign Languages, submitting my Bachelor’s Thesis (TFG) on Passivisation and relativisation as colloquialisation strategies in Present-Day English in June 2020. I presented my Master’s Thesis (TFM) in June 2021 on Fragments as a new proxy of colloquialisation, following the Linguistics specialisation of the Inter-University Master in Advanced English Studies (IMAES). My research focuses on diachronic sociolinguistics in contemporary English through statistical and quantitative corpus methods. Specifically, I propose “colloquialisation” as a socio-cultural and linguistic cause for the increase of face-to-face linguistic devices in both spoken and written British English.
